EBC: En route - May 5 (Phakding) to May 11 (Lobuche)

This is page 3 of my EBC trek report. Navigate through overview page.

May 5: Lukla to Phakding

One of the first amongst many such bridges. Longer ones are strung on steel cables, shorter ones are built using wooden planks.

This little fellow was peeking from behind the door at the first tea shop that we stopped for refreshments.

Dudh Koshi river (I presume), we were crisscrossing this river throughout.

May 6: Phakding to Namche

Quaint little Phakding

The bridge swings from side to side and bounces up and down as you march past!

May 8: Namche to Thyangboche

Peaks visible from Namche Bazaar

Thought this looked better in greyscale

The long walk from Namche to Thyangboche

The peak with the cloud cap is Everest. The first view of Everest

Peak on left with cloud cap is Everest

Our guide - Kaji

Yak crossing. One is advised to hug the mountain rather than risk being on the other side and get accidentally pushed down by the Yak.

Inside Thyangboche Monastery, you can see this in the IMAX Everest movie

A nice helpful monk explained many Buddhist principles to us

May 9: Thyangboche to Dingboche

May 10: Dingboche & Chukung

Ama Dablam (the mother of all peaks) on the left

May 11: Dingboche to Lobuche

I ran back from the group when I realized the potential of this shot. Must say I like the results!

Ran forward for this one. I like this pic, only if the clouds had been more favorable and revealed the peak in all its glory.

Could not decide which of the above two photos were better, in the end, decided to include both.
